Improve Your Garage Door For National Autism Awareness Month!

Written by Garth

Did you know that April was National Autism Awareness Month? April 1st not only marks April Fool’s Day but also the beginning of a great month to bring awareness to Autism. One of the biggest parts of Autism Awareness is making things safer for children and people with Autism. Trust me when we say, Autism is no joke. Neither is having a garage door that is not particularly safe. Sure, you may be thinking “but no one with Autism comes in my garage.” but that does not matter. Your garage door should be as safe as can be anyways. You never know when someone with Autism might come in your garage. No, it is not like they just wander around into people’s homes, but you are likely going to meet at least one person with it in your life.

What Is Autism?

It is a condition, usually present from a young age, that is characterized by anti-socialness and difficulty forming relationships with other people. It also prevents people who suffer from it from using common language and understanding abstract concepts. By no means are Autistic people stupid. Usually, they are quite the opposite, but they have trouble making sense of the world in common sense.

Why Make You Garage Safer For Autism Awareness?

For starters, it is always good to make your garage safer. There are many new innovations in garage door technology. If your garage door doesn’t have the new sensors to determine if it can open or close, it really should. Garage doors can do great damage to people and personal property if the happen to… close on them. In general, it is a good idea to give your garage door a checkup everyone once in awhile. It isn’t just for people who suffer from Autism, but it is a good time to take care of it.

Give It The Full Service

If needed, this month would be a great time to revamp your garage door. Repair any issues with your garage door frame. Upgrade to a new screw drive garage door opener. They are quieter and run smoother. It is always a good time to add the new sensors for your garage door. If you upgrade enough, you can even open and close your garage door with your smartphone. There is literally no good reason not to do this during any month of the year. It is just a nice touch to do this during National Awareness Month. We’re all trying to do our part in April.

what is the gdc?

Hey there, Garage door friends! I’m Garth.   I started the Garage Door Club on a whim in early 2018. I wasn’t even sure what a DIY blog was at the time, but I knew that my years of experience writing & creating digital content for a reputable garage door repair company could be beneficial to those who typically seem to be lost when facing a dilemma with their garage doors.   READ MORE
